Mick the Mapmaker (and More!)

This Saturday, May 1st, at 4pm Eastern time I’m playing Mick the Mapmaker in - you guessed it - Mick the Mapmaker, a new play by Amy Yourd. The reading is virtual (of course) and you can register here! The play runs about 90 minutes. The short description of the show is “Mick makes maps, a rare and useful skill in a city where the streets have changed their shape and where nobody can remember their name.” Content Notice: This play contains body horror.

It’s been really fun to get to do some scripted acting for the first time in a while, after a lot of improvisational work in Kings of Neon and DnD sessions. (Stay tuned for Dragonfly launching next week!)

I’m also thrilled to announce I’m hosting a new patreon podcast for Post Show Recaps, covering the final season of Pose on FX. It’s a valuable opportunity to talk about a historic platform for trans and queer representation, especially black and brown trans folks and their experience. The preview podcast dropped today and you can check it out for free here. If you’re interested, I highly encourage you to join the Post Show Recaps patreon program!

I’m pleased to announce my latest short play, Meteor(ite), which was written during the heart of lockdown, will be presented in two virtual festivals in the coming weeks! Meteor(ite) is a brief meditation on what it is to be human, not fit in, and find your people. It’s a small play with a big heart.

First up, on October 26th at 10pm ET you can find Meteor(ite) as part of Reboot Theatre’s Test Kitchen. The event will be streaming on their youtube and facebook pages. The event is FREE, though there is a suggested donation of $10 - they are paying all the artists! If you plan on attending/have attended/just want to support my work, click here to donate to Reboot Theatre. This performance features Stevie Jae Davis and HJ Farr and is directed by Jordan-Michael Whidbey.

If you can’t make it Monday October 26th, Meteor(ite) will also be a part of Women’s Theatre Festival’s Occupy The Stage event, happening November 6-8 on their youtube page. Our show will run on November 6th at 10:20am, but tickets aren’t on sale yet, so stay tuned for updates. It will also be available as part of a pay per view program the following week, more details to come there as well. This performance features Lauren Anderson and Ella Mock and is directed by Maisha Khan.
