Mick the Mapmaker (and More!)

This Saturday, May 1st, at 4pm Eastern time I’m playing Mick the Mapmaker in - you guessed it - Mick the Mapmaker, a new play by Amy Yourd. The reading is virtual (of course) and you can register here! The play runs about 90 minutes. The short description of the show is “Mick makes maps, a rare and useful skill in a city where the streets have changed their shape and where nobody can remember their name.” Content Notice: This play contains body horror.

It’s been really fun to get to do some scripted acting for the first time in a while, after a lot of improvisational work in Kings of Neon and DnD sessions. (Stay tuned for Dragonfly launching next week!)

I’m also thrilled to announce I’m hosting a new patreon podcast for Post Show Recaps, covering the final season of Pose on FX. It’s a valuable opportunity to talk about a historic platform for trans and queer representation, especially black and brown trans folks and their experience. The preview podcast dropped today and you can check it out for free here. If you’re interested, I highly encourage you to join the Post Show Recaps patreon program!

Kings of Neon

New project alert! Starting this Sunday March 28th at 6pm and every Sunday moving forward you can catch me as Escher Maximore in Kings of Neon, a weekly stream of the role playing game, City of Mist:

In a world not unlike our own there is a City. A City of Mist. A place of stark juxtapositions. Opulent towers of glass & steel looming over dark alleys and run down warehouses. Awash in the neon lights of the modern age. The mist which permeates it is more than just a gloomy fog diffusing the electric lights and hiding the many sins which take place here. It's a conduit to something more. And a sedative to keep the masses placated. It's the red pill & the blue.

Some few folk of this place find themselves tapped into mysterious forces from beyond. Myths of legend, lore, & literature infuse their powers in these people. The players are among these few, everyday people imbued with the mythic properties of legendary characters from folklore, mythology, & literature. The kid who delivers the papers can fight & fly & crow because he believes he can and when he sprinkles his gang of lost boys with glitter they can too! They fight the fight against that terrible condition that is growing up! The old lady in the apartment upstairs who cat sits for everyone hears the secrets in their whispers and sends them out into the world to skulk & spy for her. Those who raise her ire regret it quickly for she is infused with the mythic strength of Bastest the warrior goddess.

Meanwhile, the mist obscures these people's truths from the monotonous drones of banality who populate the rest of the diverse neon metropolis. The Sleepers are everyone else living within this world of gods & monsters but totally ignorant of the truth. The mist conceals, confuses, & conspires to keep them asleep in their waking lives while forces unknowable drive others to acts of heroism & evil around them.

Our game, Kings of Neon will follow a group of 5 character who all awoke at the same time while they were at a local library. They're trying to unravel the mysteries of their city & themselves. Who they are & what they can do you'll have to turn in to find out. Click the photo to head to twitch!
