Is there a more quarantine-friendly medium than the podcast? I didn’t intend to get into podcasting in 2020, but it’s happened, in multiple ways.

Most recently, I’ve been part of the creative team on a new project called The Legendary Handbook which is produced by Cirque du Nuit, the interactive circus company I’ve been performing with since 2016. Click here for the spotify link! (Coming soon to stitcher and Apple podcasts.) The Legendary Handbook is a podcast that can be enjoyed as standalone entertainment, but also ties into the world of Thickett, a virtual interactive performance also being produced by Cirque Du Nuit this fall/winter. I hope you’ll check them both out!

Earlier this summer, I got involved with the Rob Has a Podcast network, where in between protests I got to spend 90 minutes a week laughing with a couple new friends about a twenty-year-old reality tv show, The Mole. If you’ve never seen the show, I highly recommend it (all five US seasons are on youtube, though we’ve only covered season one so far) and checking out the good time and silliness that is the Mole Patrol podcast (available in the “Reality TV RHAPups” feed or at robhasawebsite.com). Though the show is not current, I found plenty of opportunities to talk about the current moment, that of the uprisings of the summer of 2020. Come for the love of Anderson Cooper, stay for the rants about the New York City Council and the NYPD!

Mole Patrol has been on hiatus for a couple months since we finished season one in September, but I’ve made a few more appearances on RHAP and the sister network Post Show Recaps in the last few weeks. Post Show Recaps launched a patreon at the start of October, debuting with a podcast about Jurassic Park, on which I played a quiz with my Mole Patrol co-hosts in an attempt to escape grave danger. Last week I guested on the patron-only podcast, Community Building, a rewatch of select episodes of Community as we attempt to get to 1000 patrons (go hit that link and subscribe!) You can listen to my episode of Community Building here - worth it if for no other reason than that Josh gives me a very nice introduction at the start of the episode, which I’ll be keeping forever.

The week before that, I was a guest on a podcast with the founder of RHAP himself, Rob Cesternino, where we talked about the new Amazon Prime show, The Pack, which is, indeed, The Amazing Race but with dogs. We’re still feeling out if we’ll podcast about the rest of the season - have a listen and let us know on twitter with the hashtag #leaveittochance

Creativity looks a little different this year, but it’s been nice to talk art, culture, and (because it’s me) politics with some folks who have become great new friends this year. I’m looking forward to more projects with the RHAP and PSR communities (I should be making an appearance on a special PSR episode next week) and I’m really excited about where The Legendary Handbook will be going in the coming weeks! Please join us, and let me know what you think!

I hope the end of 2020 treats you better than the rest of it has treated all of us. Be well friends.
